The College of Wooster is a private school of liberal arts and sciences located in Wooster, Ohio, founded in 1866 by Presbyterians. The Ohio School follows the semester system and awards the following degrees: bachelor of arts, bachelor of music, and bachelor of music education. Majors and minors at the College of Wooster range from African studies and archaeology to political science and urban studies. A number of pre-professional programs are available to students at the College of Wooster, including preparation for architecture, nursing, social work, medicine and seminary studies.

The Ohio School is best known for its independent study program, which matches up each student with a faculty mentor to create an original research project, written work, performance, or exhibit of artwork. U.S. News & World Report has ranked the program as the second senior capstone experience in the nation, following Princeton University.

The College of Wooster has set up the Henry J. Copeland Fund for Independent Study, which is designed to help fund travel or special equipment needed by students for their independent study projects. The fund disburses more than $90,000 annually to assist students. In recent years, students at the Ohio school have studied the lives of West African immigrants in Paris and produced a documentary on survivors of Hiroshima as part of the independent study program.
