The Peralta Colleges are comprised of Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College. Peralta is home to faculty and staff dedicated to making sure your experience at Peralta exceeds your expectations.

The range of students and programs is incredibly diverse at the Peralta Colleges. There are students from 15 years of age to those well into their 90's. Coursework and degree programs range from acclaimed Aviation maintenance technology program, to dance and jazz, to nursing and horticulture, and much more.

The Chancellor of the district is former Oakland mayor and California State Assemblyman Elihu Harris.

Transferring from a Peralta Community college to a four-year school is made easy by the district's multiple career centers and online resources.

The district began operations under the Peralta name on July 1, 1964. The Peralta Colleges name was selected because all of the cities of the district, now a part of the greater Oakland metropolitan region, are located on the original Spanish land grant for Sgt. Luís María Peralta in August 1820.
