Founded in 1994, The Seattle Film Institute has the largest film program in the Northwest. The school's program provides extensive hands-on experience and instruction by dedicated faculty, who are experienced in their respective fields. Students have access to high-quality equipment and the software needed to produce professional quality work. The institute is located in the heart of Capitol Hill area of Seattle, Washington, and is less than 10 minutes away from downtown.

The Seattle Film Institute offers a 40-week total immersion filmmaking program, individual classes, and a teen program. The 40-week full-time filmmaking program is comprehensive with an integrated hands-on overview of the filmmaking process. Classes and hands-on labs meet four hours a day, five days a week for 10 months. Courses for the program include elements of filmmaking, tools of production, film history, and screenwriting.

Individual classes include filmmaking, digital video, screenwriting, film history, and documentary. Workshops and seminars are also available. The two-week intensive summer teen program helps students develop skills in film and video production. Students who complete the summer teen program can enroll in the advanced filmmaking for teen's course, where they will collaborate on a class project.
