Located in Brockport, New York, the College at Brockport is part of the
State University of New York 64-public college system. The State University of New York, also known as
SUNY is the largest university system in the United States. Originally established as the College of Brockport in 1835 by a group of Baptists, the school became one of the state's "Normal" schools in 1866. So named for an early French teacher training institution, the school transitioned to Brockport State before becoming the State University of New York, the College at Brockport.
Today, the College at Brockport is the largest school in the State University of New York system and one of the ten largest universities in the country. Routinely recognized by Kiplingers,
U.S. News and World Report and the Princeton Review, The College at Brockport offers students the choice of over 40 Bachelor's degree programs, nearly 30 Master's degree programs and 18 areas of teacher certification.
Located on the Erie Canal, the College at Brockport's 464-acre campus has more than 60 buildings. More than 90 percent of the freshman students at the College at Brockport choose to live on campus in one of the 11 residence halls. The library is home to more than 640,000 printed volumes, more than 2 million microfilms and access to nearly 15,000
online subscriptions.
Students at the College at Brockport can choose to study abroad and each year, more than 450 undergraduate students take advantage of that opportunity. Students can choose more than 65 programs in over 20 countries.
Established in 1948, the state of New York was the last of the then 48 states to officially establish a university system. The State University of New York system has campuses all over the state, making it one of the most culturally, regionally and academic diverse systems in the country.
