liberal arts and sciences that is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Founded in 1961,
UM is committed to combining Christian faith and academic excellence. The University offers its students more than 44 excellent academic programs.
The University of Mobile requires that every student under the age of 21 or that has less than 90 credit hours to live on campus so UM makes sure that students have an active student life to rely on. Although UM has no Greek life, it has an extraordinarily strong Student Government Association. UM also has a strong athletics department made up of six men's teams and seven women's teams. The men's teams include basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, soccer and tennis. The women's sports teams include softball, basketball, tennis, cross-country, golf, volleyball and soccer.
UM was recognized as being among the top master's-level universities in the South by the U.S. News and Word Report in 2008. The University of Mobile is credited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. UM is also an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of
Music.
