The University of Nevada Las Vegas is located in one of the country's fastest-growing cities and offers more than 220 undergraduate, Master's, and doctoral degree programs. UNLV is known for its programs in History, engineering, Environmental Studies, Hotel Administration, fine arts, and Management Information Systems.

The Atlantic Monthly recognized UNLV's English department as having one of the nation's most innovative MFA programs and one of the top five doctoral programs in creative writing. The University of Nevada Las Vegas is also well known for its research efforts and receives approximately $74.8 million supporting research funding. UNLV also has an excellent international program and it opened its first international campus in Singapore.

UNLV's 17 intramural sports teams are also very successful in their own fields. Nicknamed the "Rebels" or "Lady Rebels", UNLV's teams have won several prestigious competitions. In addition to sports, the University of Nevada Las Vegas's has active student life on campus including an extensive performing arts center which includes the Judy Bayley Theater, Lee and Thomas Beam Music Center, the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall, etc.
