The University of Texas at Brownsville partnered with Texas Southmost College to form a comprehensive institution that combines the personalized approach of a
community college with the resources of a state university. UTB/TSC is a member of the
University of Texas System.
The academic program at University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College focuses on critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and effective communication. Students can pursue a wide range of programs leading to a certificate,
associate degree, bachelor's degree, or graduate degree. Programs are available through the College of Applied Technology and General Studies; the College of
liberal arts; the College of Science, Mathematics, and Technology; the School of
business; the School of Education; and the School of Health Sciences. Workforce training, continuing education, and a Kids College are also available.
The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College competes for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in three men's sports and three women's sports. Students can also participate in more than 60 organizations on campus, including academic and professional clubs, honor societies, recreational sports, and unique groups like Mariachi Club and Guitar Connection.
