The Washington Theological
Union is a four-year private Roman
Catholic graduate school of theology and ministry located in Washington D.C. The school founded in 1968, is one of the largest Roman Catholic schools of theology in the country.
The
Union offers five graduate degree programs: a Master's of Divinity, a Master's of Arts in Pastoral Sciences, Master of Arts or Master of Theological Studies and a Doctor of Ministry in
Christian Spirituality. Other degree types offered are first professional degrees and post baccalaureate certificates.
Washington Theological Union has been providing a catholic education to students from the nation and from around the world for more then a decade. The school's motto is " freedom, faith, integrity." The theological education provided by Washington Theological Union continues to assist and lead students to a deeper understanding of revelation and a greater clarity of Christian wisdom that will assist them in their future.
Over 1,700 graduates of the Union are working in a wide-variety of ministries and serve throughout the
United States and the world. Graduates serve as parish priests, directors of religious education, teachers, youth ministers and more.
On the scenic campus, where cherry blossom trees are a common sight, WTU students can take advantage of the state-of-the art facilities including the O'Toole Library. This library contains over 130,000 volumes, approximately 500 periodical subscriptions, and several
online resources. Additionally, access to Caremelite material is available at Whitefriars Hall and at the Washington Theological Consortium students can gain access to over one million volumes of theological sources. Off-campus also provides a learning experience with Washington DC only a metro rail ride away, with easy access only a few blocks from the school. There students can gain access to museums galleries, historical landmarks and more.

Classes at the Washington Theological Union are diverse, comprised of priesthood candidates, lay, religious and sabbatical students. The age range is from recent college graduates to retirees.
The Union assists more than 17 religious orders of men preparing their members for the priesthood.
