Thomas College is a private,
liberal arts college located in Waterville, Maine. Form its inception, Thomas College has always been about
Career Training. Thomas College was founded in 1894 as a non-sectarian, co-educational institution of higher learning. First located in downtown Waterville, the college moved to a large private estate. It moved to its current 70-acre campus along the Kennebec River in 1971.
More than 950 students enroll in one of the programs at Thomas College each year for their undergraduate or graduate education. Thomas College awards Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts and Master of
business Administration and a Master of Science. There are more than 45 degree programs in these areas: accounting, arts and sciences, communications, computer and
technology,
criminal justice, education, finance, management, marketing, political science, pre-law, psychology and
sports management.
Students may live on campus and first year students are encouraged to do so. Thomas College feels as though first year students can receive better support by living on campus. Housing is guaranteed for first year students in one of three residence halls. The three halls are connected by one common area that features study areas and a variety of recreational activities. Upper class students who wish to live on campus may enter a lottery. However, many of the students at Thomas College are commuters. The Student Life Department works hard to involve all of the students who attend Thomas College, including those commuting, and those continuing their studies at night while working a full time job. Movie nights, lunches and comedy acts are just some of the ways Student Life helps to unite the student body, no matter if they live on campus or off.
