Transylvania University is a liberal arts school located in Lexington, Kentucky, on a 48-acre campus, and founded in 1780. Early supporters include George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, as well as Henry Clay, who was a law professor at Transylvania University and a member of the Kentucky School's board of trustees. Distinguished alumni from the Kentucky school include U.S. Vice Presidents John C. Breckinridge and Richard M. Johnson, and Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan.

The Kentucky school offers more than 30 undergraduate majors. Programs range from anthropology and business administration to computer science and religion. Students at Transylvania University also have the option to design individual majors. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits bachelor's degrees awarded by the Kentucky school, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education accredits the education program at Transylvania University.

More than 50 organizations are open to students at Transylvania University.
