Truckee Meadows community college's history began in 1971 with the founding of Western Nevada Community College, one of three community colleges within the Community College Division of the Nevada system of higher education at the time. Eight years later, the Board of Regents split Western Nevada Community College, establishing Truckee Meadows Community College in the process. As a result, Truckee Meadows Community College became the fourth member of the Community College Division and to this day maintains its commitment to providing a comprehensive education to residents.

As a two-year institution of higher learning, this Nevada college offers a wide range of associate degree, university transfer, career training, and occupational enhancement programs. In fact, Truckee Meadows Community College offers degree and/or certificate programs in over 50 different career fields. Whether students are interested in dental assisting, machining, fire science, applied anthropology, veterinary medicine, or the visual and performing arts, this Nevada college is sure to have what they're looking for.
