The United States Sports Academy is an independent, non-profit sports university located in Daphne, Alabama. The United States Sports Academy is the only Graduate School in America dedicated to the sports profession. The mission of the United States Sports Academy is to prepare athletes and others for careers in the sports field. Founded in 1972, four of the five founding members of the Board of Trustees still serve on the board. After the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany, in which the American teams showed very poorly, it was recognized that there was a need for an institution to provide proper training in coaching and sports medicine.

The United States Sports Academy is located on the Eastern shore of Mobile Bay in Daphne, Alabama, but one of the missions of the school was to provide a "school without walls" and the United States Sports Academy has provided ways for students to complete degree programs through distance learning and independent study. The United States Sports Academy offers Bachelor's Degrees in: sports coaching, sports management and sports studies. Master's Degrees are awarded in: sports coaching, sports management, sports fitness, sports medicine, sport studies. Doctorate degrees are offers in education in sports management, sports medicine and Olympism. Doctoral students may also apply for teaching assistantships.

Students at the United States Sports Academy have access to some of the most advanced, state of the art fitness equipment. The academy's fitness performance center provides a hands on learning environment for students. The fitness performance center tests students as well as high profile athletes. They've also developed fitness programs for over 60 countries, including Indonesia, the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The Academy has also developed fitness programs for the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. National Guard, Fortune 500 Companies and numerous hospitals. The campus of the United States Sports Academy is located approximately 30-40 minutes to Mobile. The academy does not have on campus housing, but there are many affordable apartments, town homes and house options in both the Daphne and the Mobile areas. The office of student services will also provide the names of private individuals in the area who are willing to rent rooms to students.

The United States Sports Academy is home to the American Sport Museum and Archives, which houses 1,000 pieces of sports memorabilia, art and literature. The value of the collection is estimated to be over $3 million.
