Unity College in Maine is a private liberal arts college that focuses on environmental learning located on 225 wooded and farmland acres in the village of Unity, Maine. Founded in 1965 at the beginning of the first U.S. based environmental movement, Unity College in Maine is a college for the times. It doesn't matter if students are studying literature or theater, they are more than likely doing it in their natural surroundings. Founded more than 20 years ago as the Unity Institution of liberal arts, the original campus was located on a farm with the house, barns and other buildings serving as residence halls, classrooms and administrative offices. The college changed its name to Unity College in 1967.

Today, Unity College in Maine is has grown and many other buildings have been added to the original farmstead that served as the original campus. Unity College in Maine is known as America's Environmental College and offers more majors in environment and natural resource areas than any other college in the country. More than 500 students attend Unity College in Maine each year and can earn Associate and Bachelor's degrees in 22 majors. Students may also select from 13 minors and ten certification programs.

Students may earn Associate Degrees in: liberal studies, environmental science, landscape horticulture, environmental humanities and environmental writing. Bachelor's degrees are awarded in: general studies, environmental humanities, environmental writing, adventure education leadership, adventure therapy, aquaculture and fisheries, captive wildlife care and education, conservation law enforcement, ecology, environmental analysis, environmental biology, environmental education, environmental policy, environmental science, forestry, landscape horticulture, marine biology, parks/ recreation and ecotourism, sustainable design and technology, sustainable food and agriculture, wildlife, wildlife biology and wildlife conservation. Students wishing to complete internships may do so in several states across the country. If they wish to study abroad, the programs at Unity College in Maine give students numerous opportunities for semester or yearlong study. Approximately 70 percent of students enrolled at Unity College in Maine choose to live on campus.
