The Universidad Central del Caribe, founded in 1976, is a health sciences university within an academic
Medical Center that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as continuing
medical education certificates in health sciences. Through its academic programs in medicine,
Allied Health, biomedical sciences and public health, the Puerto Rico university has served the community for over thirty years.
Among its many accomplishments, the Universidad Central del Caribe was the first institution in Puerto Rico to offer a university-level Associate in Science Degree for Medical Imaging Technology. The Puerto Rico university also has a thriving research program in the clinical, bio-psychosocial, and biomedical sciences.
Academic programs include: medicine, medical imaging, biomedical sciences and substance abuse counseling.

All facilities are integrated into one campus at the grounds of the Dr. Ramón Ruiz Arnau University Hospital in the city of Bayamón.
The Universidad Central del Caribe was awarded a License of Authorization from the Puerto Rico Higher Education Council and accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology--the first program to obtain this accreditation in Puerto Rico and the first to be accredited outside of the continental United States.
Graduates may apply for the national licensing examination in radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
