Founded in 1957, Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Barranquitas is the only campus of higher education in the central-western part of the Island. It serves the people of Barranquitas, Orocovis, Aibonito, Comerío, Coowner, Naranjito and bordering quarters of other nearby communities. Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Barranquitas is located in the Central Mountain range, surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Barranquitas was the first Regional College established in Puerto Rico. The use of technology combined with a pleasant environment projects a warm welcome to the Campus. The Campus offers Education, business Administration, Technology and Science. It also has a modern Information Center that enables the student to participate in distance learning, videoconferencing and the use of the Internet.

The mission of Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Barranquitas is to facilitate the process of education by helping students gain the knowledge they need to succeed.
