Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Guayama began serving the Puerto Rico community in the 1956-57 school year as part of an extension program of the San Germán campus. Its origins have always been inspired in the noble ideals of improvement and progress.

Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Guayama's main focus is business administration, education, science, health, technology, and humanities. This is the only campus in Puerto Rico that offers an associate and a bachelor's degree in religion. In addition, Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico, Guayama offers certificates in bookkeeping and medical records, 12 Associate Degrees and a master's degree in interdisciplinary early childhood education. The Associate Degree in nursing is offered in conjunction with Ryders Hospital and the bachelor's degree in management is offered with the collaboration of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
