Since 1921, The University of Akron-School of Law has offered programs in general studies and general practice law tracks at a graduate level with specialized studies in business, criminal, intellectual property and technology, international private law, litigation and taxation. Akron Law also offers certificate programs in intellectual property law and litigation as well as five joint degree graduate programs.

As a graduate program in law, the environment is intense and rigorous, and students are expected to be prepared for in-depth class discussions each and every day. The faculty at Akron Law are leaders in their fields and have authored approximately 300 significant scholarly publications, including 24 books, 48 significant supplements to previously published books, 133 law review articles, and 41 shorter publications. Individuals are taught within the four principals of the School of law; Education, Scholarship, Service to the Bench, the Bar and the Broader Community, and Providing Access to Legal Education.

Law students are part of the general University of Akron population as a whole. UA offers more than 200 undergraduate majors and areas of study and more than 110 Master's and doctoral programs. The University has more than 200 student groups, including sororities and fraternities, bands, gospel choir, theater guilds and athletics. The University operates two 15-week semesters starting in August and January with an optional summer semester. They offer on-campus housing, financial aid and many scholarship programs.
