The University of Alabama Huntsville is one of the research colleges in the state-funded University of Alabama system. S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), and the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC). The University of Alabama Huntsville is the anchor tenant in Cummings Research Park, the second largest research park in the United States and home to more than 225 high technology companies. The University of Alabama Huntsville is also home to the M. Louis Salmon Library, which houses more than 400,000 printed volumes, U.S. government documents, recordings, microfilm and microfiche. The library also has subscriptions to more than 2,700 periodicals.
