University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay became one of five rural campuses in the College of Rural Alaska in 1987. The campus serves an area of approximately 55,000 square miles and a total of 32 communities through distance delivery, correspondence, itinerant instructors, and more traditional methods.
The Adult Basic Education (ABE/GED) Program is also part of the
University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus. It provides adult basic education through
high school level instruction for Bristol Bay adults. Other programs include the Marine Advisory Program (MAP). Other courses to be piloted by the
University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus will include entrepreneurship, human resources, and tourism. HUD Grant funds provide support in
business and Vocational programs and have helped support small businesses across the Bristol Bay Region.
The main campus of University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay is located in Dillingham with outreach centers in King Salmon and Togiak. University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay offers bachelor's degrees,
Associate Degrees, and certificates, as well as local courses covering a variety of subjects from computers to welding to art.

The Bristol Bay Campus, College of Rural Alaska of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, seeks to provide educational opportunities through which Alaskans, particularly Alaska Natives and rural residents, are empowered to effect social and economic changes in their communities as well as to protect and enrich the quality of their lives and culture.
The campus offers an Associate of Arts degree in general studies and Associate of Applied Science degrees in applied accounting, applied business, apprenticeship technology, community health, early childhood, human service technology, interdisciplinary studies, microcomputer support specialist, office management and technology, and renewable resources.
Bachelor's degrees are available in elementary education, rural development, social work and interdisciplinary studies. A Master's degree program in rural development is available to Bristol Bay residents.
