University of Arkansas Winthrop Rockefeller Institute's educational center with conference and lodging facilities is located on Petit Jean Mountain near Morrilton, Arkansas, on the original grounds of Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller's model cattle farm.

The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute of the University of Arkansas System chooses to honor the legacy of its namesake by creating a facility to study and anticipate our ever-changing society. Their partnership with the University of Arkansas System allows this Arkansas School to combine Governor Rockefeller's legacy and ideas with the resources and Expertise of the state's premier university system.

The mission of University of Arkansas Winthrop Rockefeller Institute is to develop a range of programs that nurture ideas, policies and activities to make life better in Arkansas. This educational environment provides the school with the sense of place, history and change needed to pursue progress with and for all Arkansans.

Winthrop Rockefeller arrived to Arkansas in 1953 and built his home and Winrock Farms on Petit Jean Mountain. Before becoming governor of Arkansas, Rockefeller served as Chairman of the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission and in doing so, he became familiar with the state's challenges and its opportunities.
