The University of Charleston in West Virginia is an independent, coeducational, residential university. UC offers baccalaureate, associate, master's and doctorate
degree programs.
Academic departments at UC include the division of
arts and sciences, the division of
business, the division of Health Services, and the center for Pharmacy Education. Baccalaureate programs are available in more than a dozen academic fields. An
associate degree program is offered in
nursing. Master's degree programs are available in
business administration. A Doctorate degree program is available in pharmacy.
Instead of a traditional lecture teacher-centered approach, the University of Charleston utilizes an individualized student learning-centered one. Students move through programs at their own pace, exercising initiative, developing planning and organizational skills, and demonstrating what they've learned. Students maintain personal electronic portfolios of their college work which they take with them upon graduating.
