The
University of Mary Washington is a co-educational, public institution located halfway between Virginia's capital and
Washington, D.C. in historic Fredericksburg, Va. The school has been ranked ninth among southern master's
degree-granting institutions and fourth among public schools in the same category by U.S. News & World Report.
The University of Mary Washington's 176-acre residential campus in Fredericksburg offers the traditional undergraduate program with more than 40 majors and programs of study in the
liberal arts and sciences. There are approximately 4,000 undergraduate students enrolled at the Mary Washington.
Mary Washington's College of Graduate and Professional Studies, which opened in 1999, is located in nearby Stafford County. The school has more than 1,000 students, many of them working adults, enrolled in degree programs and other credit-bearing courses. The University of Mary Washington recently added a $14.6 million academic building to this campus to meet the needs of an expanding student body. Classes towards a bachelor's or master's degree are offered at night or on weekends at this campus.
