The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is a Historically Black College founded in 1886. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore now has over 600 acres, 28 major buildings and 41 other units. There are approximately 3,300 students enrolled at Eastern Shore. The campus is located only one hour from Ocean City, the state's famous seaside resort, and a three-hour drive to Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

One of 13 University of Maryland System institutions, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore offers 29 bachelors' degrees, 11 master's degrees, and six doctoral degrees in the physical and biological sciences, social and behavioral sciences, engineering, education, mathematics, information technology, humanities and visual and performing arts.

Within the last decade, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore has added 17 new degree-granting programs to its academic roster, including Airway Science and Law Enforcement and Rehabilitation services. In addition, Eastern Shore offers 13 teaching degree programs and eight pre-professional programs.
