University of Montana Western

710 S. Atlantic Street

Dillon, MT 59725

The University of Montana Western, founded in 1893, is located on a 34-acre campus with 17 major buildings. Students may choose from a wide range of degrees and programs including bachelor's and Associate Degrees in business, education, English, fine arts, science, history, philosophy & social sciences, mathematics, natural horsemanship, and equine studies.

Individualized education has been a campus trademark for over 100 years. Students take one class at a time for three hours every day for 18 days, with a four-day break before moving onto the next course. With this approach, known as Experience One, students can concentrate on a single subject at a time and earn the same amount of credit as if enrolled in a traditional schedule. All classes are taught only by professors and are kept small with a student to faculty ratio of 16 to one.

Campus housing includes five residence halls and a 16-unit family housing complex. In their leisure, students have the option of blue ribbon fishing in surrounding rivers or skiing at Maverick Mountain.
