The University of Nebraska Omaha is a comprehensive, Public university located in the heart of Nebraska's largest city. An integral part of the University of Nebraska system, it is the second-largest higher education campus in the state and offers more than 120 baccalaureate degree programs and approximately 50 masters and doctoral degree programs.

The student body consists of about 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students who are traditional students as well as business professionals and international students. Omaha, in addition to offering courses for college credit, designs training courses for thousands of business and industrial employees; provides in-service training for elementary and secondary school teachers; conducts distance education classes for college credit; and sponsors a wide variety of conferences, workshops, lectures, and fine art events.

University Division is a non-degree granting college for degree-seeking students who have not made a definite choice about a major field of study. These students may take an exploratory program of studies as well as general education courses. Advisors in University Division assist students in selecting general education courses that will fulfill the Omaha's general education requirements for all colleges. Counselors also guide students through the research process to help narrow down their choices.
