The University of New Hampshire at Manchester, established in 1985, is a commuter college located in downtown Manchester, the state's largest city. Classes are conducted at University Center, a renovated mill building conveniently located in Manchester's Mill yard. The 75,000 square foot facility, formerly the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company's machine shop built in 1880, recently completed renovations that included tripling the size of the library, creation of multimedia classrooms, and new microbiology, psychology, and media labs. The urban college serves people who live and work in the Merrimack Valley and the state's southern tier.

UNH offers students a choice of 18 majors and 13 minors that include selected liberal arts and professional degree programs at the associate, baccalaureate, and graduate levels with special emphasis on programs that address urban issues. Students can arrange their classes to fit their schedule because UNH offers flexible class schedules including day, evening and weekend courses, week-long intensive courses or combined classroom and on-line hybrid courses. The University of New Hampshire at Manchester also has smart classrooms, three computer labs and wireless access throughout the University Center.
