The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, founded in 1887, is a public, liberal arts school located in the rural setting of Robeson County in southeastern North Carolina. UNC Pembroke is a master's level, degree-granting university that offers 44 bachelor's and 17 master's degrees.
One of 16 schools that comprise the University of North Carolina system, the school is less than two hours from Raleigh, Charlotte, and the North and South Carolina beaches.

With more than 5,900 students and about 249 full-time faculty members, the student to faculty ratio is approximately 16 to one. Faculty members, not teaching assistants, teach all academic courses. The average class size at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke is 30 students. UNC Pembroke's most popular undergraduate majors include business, education, social work and biology.
