There is also a doctoral program in computer and information science. The department is part of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Engineering and Applied Science, which is known for being the birthplace of the modern computer.
The doctoral and most of the M.S. programs are for students who have a strong academic background in computer science. However, those who are new to the field can enroll in the masters program in computer and information technology. No matter what program they are enrolled in, all students learn about the latest in computer technology from some of the best instructors in the field. The recently established program in computer graphics and game technology teaches students about state-of-the-art graphics and animation technologies, interactive media design principles, product development and entrepreneurship. Graduates are prepared for careers as designers, technical animators and game programmers and have gone on to work for companies such as DreamWorks Animation, Electronic Arts. ACTIVISION, Disney, Mythic Entertainment and Crystal Dynmaics.
