The University of Rio Grande, founded in 1876, is a private, comprehensive university located on a 160-acre campus amidst the hills of Southeastern Ohio. Rio Grande offers a combination of
liberal arts education, career preparation and practical training. There are over 60 academic programs to choose from in the
liberal arts, sciences,
business, teacher education, fine and performing arts,
nursing, and technologies, as well as pre-professional programs in pre-med, pre-law, and pre-dentistry.
The Rio Grande student body consists of over 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students that come from 15 states and 23 countries. They are traditional undergraduate and graduate students, as well as working adults pursuing associate, bachelor's and master's degrees. The student to faculty ratio is 15 to one, and the average class size is 20 students. Students have the option of customizing their majors and minors to fit their needs.
The University of Rio Grande campus includes five residence halls, a library, social centers, modern instructional facilities, and a performing arts center. The campus also has a number of recreational and sports facilities such as tennis, squash and racquet courts, an Olympic size pool, basketball courts, soccer and football fields, aerobic and many other physical training facilities.
