The University of South Carolina Sumter, a regional campus of the University of South Carolina, has 120 offices and 75 buildings, including classrooms, laboratories, and other instructional spaces on almost 50 acres of land. USC Sumter offers Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees and provides for the completion of selected bachelor's degrees on campus through cooperative agreements with other institutions.

The University of South Carolina Sumter educates more than 2,000 different students every year and has 41 full-time faculty members. Approximately 58 percent of the University of South Carolina Sumter's students attend full-time. Classes are held on campus, at the Shaw AFB campus, Camden Military Academy, Cardinal-Newman high school, Sumter high school, and at Thomas Sumter Academy. About 88 percent of Sumter faculty have terminal degrees.

Graduate education is coordinated at USC Sumter through the Graduate Regional Studies program. Sumter also offers general education course work and some of the technical course work required to complete a Community College of the Air Force degree.
