University of Texas at San Antonio, founded in 1969, is the second largest school in the University of Texas System and has been one of the state's fastest-growing public universities for the past ten years. University of Texas at San Antonio provides access and opportunity for a large number of historically underserved students in the area. UT San Antonio is comprised of three campuses. Responding to rapid growth, UT San Antonio has instituted an aggressive building campaign and is continually adding courses and major offerings.

More than 28,500 students are enrolled in 128 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. UT San Antonio offers 64 bachelor's, 44 master's and 20 doctoral degree programs. Pursuing classification as a doctoral/research intensive institution, ten doctoral programs and five more master's programs will soon be added.

There are about 556 tenure/tenure-track faculty. Ninety-eight percent of full-time faculty hold doctorates or equivalent terminal degrees. More than 230 tenured and tenure-track faculty positions were added during the last six years.
