University of Texas at Tyler, located on 200 acres among the pine and oak forests of East Texas, is a four-year comprehensive institution of higher
education offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs. A member of the University of Texas System, the UT Tyler campus consists of 14 modern buildings arranged around two lakes. Nearby attractions include Tyler State Park, Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, Tyler Market Center, Fire Mountain Amusement Park, and Discovery Science Place. UT Tyler has satellite campuses in the nearby cities of Longview and Palestine.
There are more than 6,000 students, and the student to faculty ratio is 16 to one. Students at the University of Texas at Tyler represent 45 nations, 35 states and 131 counties. UT Tyler offers over 90 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in four professional colleges and one traditional college of arts and sciences. Students can also pursue a Ph.D. in
nursing.
University of Texas at Tyler is the only public university to offer an
engineering program east of Dallas and north of Houston.
