The
University of Virginia's College at Wise, the only branch campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, is a public
liberal arts college located in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia.

The University of Virginia's College at Wise spans 367 acres and is an hour from Tri-Cities, Tennessee and Virginia, a region made up of Tennessee cities Kingsport,
Johnson City and Bristol and the surrounding smaller towns and communities in Tennessee and Virginia. Before the university was founded in 1954, there were no public colleges west of Radford, Virginia.
The University of Virginia's College at Wise, known as Clinch Valley College of the University of Virginia until 1999, has a total enrollment of more than 1,900 students in more than 25 majors, including the only undergraduate software
engineering program in Virginia. Students can also choose from more than 25 minors and seven pre-professional programs.
