The University of Wisconsin-Marathon County is part of the 26-campus University of Wisconsin system. The main building includes a student Union, bookstore, library, theater, planetarium, greenhouse, computer and tutoring labs, classrooms, offices, and the campus cafeteria. Students pursue an associate of arts and sciences degree.

The average enrollment at UWMC is just over 1,000 students. The average class size is 23 students. Students can choose majors from pre-professional studies; agriculture & natural resources; biological sciences; business; communications & letters; foreign languages; education; engineering & applied technology; fine & applied arts; health studies; physical, mathematical & computer science; public affairs & service; and social sciences.

The University of Wisconsin-Marathon County offers students a guaranteed transfer program, which ensures them admission to the UW campus of their choice. After graduation students have the option of staying in the area and enrolling in distance education to earn a bachelor's degree from one of the four baccalaureate University of Wisconsin campuses that include: UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, UW-Superior, UW-Platteville.
