The University of Wisconsin-Parkside, one of 13 four-year campuses in the University of Wisconsin System, has more than 30 undergraduate majors with more than 70 areas of emphasis, nine pre-professional programs and three graduate programs.

Founded in 1968, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside spans 750 acres with a physical plant of 15 buildings. Just a mile from Lake Michigan, the campus is located 30 minutes south of Milwaukee and 60 minutes north of Chicago.

Total enrollment at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside is more than 5,000. Graduate students number approximately 100, with the majority of the students enrolled as undergraduates. Eight hundred students live on campus.

There are several facility upgrades and additions in the works. They include a new $25 student union, a new residence hall designed to serve 800 additional students and a communication arts expansion to create more space for the fine arts on campus.

Students come from more than 20 states and 30 countries to attend the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, though 80 percent of students are from within a 20-mile radius of the school. In addition, the school has the most diverse student body of all the schools in the University of Wisconsin System. Twenty-one percent of students are AHANA (African-American, Hispanic, Asian or Native American).

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside employs more than 700 faculty and staff. The student-to-faculty ratio is 19 to 1.

As the only NCAA Division II university in Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside participates in 13 sports within the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Of the more than 17,000 alumni, more than 90 percent remain in southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois.

The Princeton Review included the School of Business and Technology as one of the Best business Schools.

The University of Wisconsin's Volunteer Center allows students to assist more than 150 non-profit organizations each year.
