University of Wisconsin-Platteville, one of the 13 four-year campuses in the University of
Wisconsin System, has a student body of approximately 7,000. Close to half of the students live on campus, and more than 90 percent are Wisconsin residents.
Founded in 1866, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is the oldest public institution in Wisconsin. The
college spans 820 acres in the southwestern part of the state, approximately 70 miles southwest of Madison and 150 miles west of Milwaukee.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville has made facility upgrades a priority. Recent upgrades include expanded athletic facilities, an Agriculture
technology Center and a technologically integrated student center.
