Founded in 1861, Vassar college is a private liberal arts college. Vassar College is considered among one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country and offers more than 50 undergraduate majors. Vassar is extremely selective and admits only students that are in the top of their class in high school.

Vassar offers rigorous yet flexible programs of study. The Independent major at Vassar is a very unique academic concept which allows a student to design a customized academic program. The Self-Instructional Language Program is also a adaptable program that offers unique courses in Hindi, Irish/Gaelic, Swahili, etc.

Vassar strives to give its students a well-rounded academic life which includes athletics and extracurricular activities. Vassar competes in Division III of the NCAA and its sport teams are part of the Liberty League. Vassar's campus is also well-known for its beauty, providing a pleasant environment for its students.
