Founded in 1834 as the Wake Forest Institute of Manual Labor, it wasn't until 1967 that it would become Wake Forest University. Now located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Wake Forest University has evolved into a private, coeducational institution that is comprised of seven separate undergraduate and graduate colleges.

Wake Forest University's colleges are dedicated to a variety of disciplines such as law, business, medicine, and management. Students also enjoy the diversity offered by 34 academic majors - as well as various interdisciplinary programs - to choose from. At Wake Forest University, one-on-one interaction between instructors and students is made possible by the low student-faculty ratio of 10.1:1.

As one of the nation's universities that are highly ranked for their technological resources, Wake Forest University has established fully networked residence halls and classrooms. In addition, the university provides every undergraduate with an IBM ThinkPad and color printer upon enrollment. As part of its commitment to students, the university upgrades their computers after two years and allows students to keep them after graduation.
