Established in 1865, Washburn University is a public, liberal arts University located in Kansas. WU offers more than 200 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs through the College of arts and sciences, the School of Law, School of business, School of nursing and School of Applied Studies.

Washburn University is consistently ranked in the top among Midwestern universities and was rated fourth in the Midwest among public Master's-level universities in 2006 by U.S. News and World Report. The University's endowment of over $100M makes it one of the top among Master's degree institutions in endowment per student. WU also has an extensive study abroad program and WU students can choose to spend a semester in France, Austria, Sweden, Spain and Germany, etc.

WU has an impressive athletic department and its teams are members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and The National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II. The men's athletic teams are known as the "Ichabods," and the women's teams are know as the"Lady Blues." Washburn also offers its students over 100 student organizations and clubs and a vibrant Greek life.
