Jefferson College, founded in 1781, is located in southwestern Pennsylvania about 30 miles from the city of Pittsburgh. This historic four-year
liberal arts college was ranked one of the best
liberal arts colleges in the nation according to the 2007 edition of "America's Best Colleges," published by
U.S. News & World Report.
This private
liberal arts college sits on 60 acres, which includes more then 40 academic, recreational and residential buildings, as well as a 54-acre biological field station. Washington and Jefferson College offers a diverse range of academic majors and minors including art, chemistry, psychology, environmental studies and more. Students can take advantage of small class sizes with a student to faculty ratio of 12 to one.
Washington and Jefferson College's mission is to "graduate men and women of uncommon integrity, competence, and maturity who are effective lifelong learners and responsible citizens, and who are prepared to contribute substantially to the world in which they live."
This suburban campus boasts state-of-the-art academic and technology buildings, along with several new student residence halls.
