Wayne state college is a four-year public college located in the rural city of Wayne, Nebraska. The college was founded in 1910 and the mission is to provide higher education dedicated to "freedom of inquiry, excellence in teaching and learning, and regional service and development."

Wayne State College offers an affordable and diverse education with more than 90 programs of study in 4 academic school settings, awarding Bachelor's, Master's, and education specialist degrees in a variety of programs and fields. Some popular majors include business administration, elementary education, criminal justice, and life sciences.

Wayne State College's scenic 128-acre campus, named the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum in 1977, features 22 buildings, including include seven residence halls. Among the facilities is the Wayne State College Library, which features more than 350,000 volumes including special collections such as the Val Peterson papers, the Robert Zahniser film collection, and the Children's Book Examination Center. 

In addition to a wide array of academic programs at Wayne State College, students can also take advantage of the college's athletic programs, which offer many sports for both men and women such as baseball, basketball, cross country, football, and more. Wayne State College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and its 13-sport program competes at the Division II level. WSC is also a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in all sports.
