Wells College was originally founded as a women's college but became a top-notch coeducational liberal arts college in 2005. The college was established in 1868 by the founder of Wells Fargo and the American Express Companies, Henry Wells.
Located in the Finger Lakes region of Central New York, Wells College offers several undergraduate programs, but students can choose to create and individualized major. Wells has professional school affiliations with
Cornell University (
engineering);
University of Rochester (business administration, teacher education, community health);
Clarkson University (business administration, engineering);
Columbia University (engineering); and
Case Western Reserve University (engineering). Wells College offers affiliated study abroad programs in Australia, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Chile, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Senegal, and Spain.
In addition to strong academic programs, Wells has an athletics department that is consistently expanding. It currently consists of six varsity women's sports teams and men's soccer and swimming teams at the club level, and an intercollegiate cross-country team for both men and women.
