Wesleyan University has had quite along history having been founded in 1831 by Methodist leaders and Middletown citizens. More then 100 years later, Wesleyan offers about 46 major fields of study in a diverse range of areas such as earth and environmental sciences, film studies,
art history and more. In addition to the notable academic program at Wesleyan University, students can take advantage of the athletic division offering a wide-array of variety sports for both men and women. Wesleyan University is a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference. There are also numerous student organizations students can join in areas ranging from singing to martial arts.
Just one of many unique attributes at Wesleyan are the Wesleyan-sponsored international programs in France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain and more. Students not only have the chance to gain insight into different cultures while studying abroad, but are sure to be introduced to a diverse community right on campus. Another unique aspect of Wesleyan is the scenic and historical 360-acre campus boasting numerous state-of-the-art facilities. Some include the Olin
Memorial Library, the historic Russell House, the six-story Exley Science Center, the Van Vleck Observatory, the 7,500-square-foot Andersen Fitness Center and much more. In addition to the Olin Memorial Library, the university offers individual libraries such as the Art Library and the Science library.
