Western Connecticut State University is a public
liberal arts university offering a diverse array of academic programs to students for more than 100 years. There are more than 36 undergraduate degree programs offered in areas such as theatre arts, earth and planetary sciences, anthropology, justice and law administration and more.
Western Connecticut State University also offers graduate programs in areas such as
business, arts and sciences and professional studies.
Western Connecticut State University offers two campuses for students adding diversity and convenience. The 34-acre main campus called Midtown is located in the town of Danbury while the other campus , Westside, about three miles away, features 364 scenic acres. The university offers many state of the art facilities on campus including the Haas Library featuring six-levels and more than 94,000 square feet. The library was named for Dr. Ruth A. Haas, the first woman to be elected president of a four-year college in the
United States. Both the Haas Library and the Robert S. Young Library include more than 215,000 volumes, government documents and more for students to take advantage of. The University continues to grow with several state of the art facilities underway such as the The Visual and Performing Arts Instructional Center, planning to house academic and performance arts programs and activities.
In addition to a comprehensive academic program, students can take advantage of the universities athletics programs. The University offers a nationally and regionally recognized athletic program for both men and women with sports including basketball, soccer, tennis, lacrosse and more. The athletic program is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and the football program is a member of the
New Jersey Athletic Conference. There are 13 additional intercollegiate athletic programs which are members of the Little East Conference. More than 340 student-athletes [participate as part of universities athletic program each year.
