Western International University was founded in 1978 in Phoenix, Arizona, as a non-profit institution and was accredited by The Higher Learning Commission in 1980. The University offers convenience with online course offerings and flexible schedules for traditional and nontraditional students alike.

Western International University offers undergraduate programs in accounting, behavioral science, business, information technology and more. They also offer several MBA Programs in areas such as finance and information technology. As many of the students at the university are working adults added convenience is offered with campuses located in Phoenix, Chandler, Scottsdale, and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The University also offers a wide-variety of international campuses currently in India, China and London. The universities two month session provide a fast and challenging way for students to complete their academic degree.

At Western International University students will be able to take advantage of an experienced faculty holding advantaged degrees in their fields. A unique attribute to the university is "earning credit for what you know" through which students can earn actual credits for previous work experience. Through assessment, students can bypass up to 20 courses in subjects they have mastered. Students can also earn credit for the mastery of a foreign language as determined by the universitie's Berlitz Language Center Evaluation.

The University also offers access to speakers from SCORE a non-profit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. Students can take advantage of a major resource at the WIU Learning Resource Center which provides resources for reference and research, including an assortment of business journals and reference books.

An online Library can also be accessed, which offers a selection of databases with an extensive selection of full text articles, documents, reference sources, directories and more. Another resource for students is the Writing Center, which provides proofreading assistance and more to students. The University also offers a campus store giving students a wide-range of business and education related items such as briefcases, active wear and more.
