Western Nevada College-Fernley Center is affiliated with the community colleges within the Nevada system of higher education. Western Nevada college-Fernley Center offers students both general college courses that lead to Associate Degrees and certificates, as well as career preparation classes.

Fernley students can now complete a one-year certificate or a two-year associate of arts/science degree through web classes, video, and on-site classes. Western Nevada college-Fernley Center also offers classes at Fernley high school and at local businesses.

Western Nevada Colleges have an open door admissions policy. Because there is no pre-admission standards, new students are not required to provide transcripts of previous educational experiences.
