Founded in 1977, Western University of Health Sciences is one of the largest non-profit, private, Graduate School for the health professions in California. Western U offers twelve programs from five colleges.

The Western University of Health Science's founding mission was to educate primary care osteopathic physicians for the western United States. Over the past two decades, Western University has expanded include educational programs in the Allied Health professions, pharmacy and graduate nursing. The College of Veterinary Medicine was the first to open in the country in 20 years and is the first in southern California.

As a top-notch graduate school, Western U. has a complete commitment toward campus student life. The Western University of Health Science's has over 70 organizations that are a part of the student body. The Student Government Association is the official representation of the student body. . The university campus includes nine major buildings located on 25 acres in downtown Pomona, California. The main campus of Western University is in Pomona a city of approximately 150,000 residents, located about 35 miles east of Los Angeles near the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
