Jesuit School of Theology, founded in 1922 near Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a graduate divinity school sponsored and governed by the Society of Jesus, a Catholic order of priests also known as "Jesuits." Weston Jesuit, established to provide philosophical studies for Jesuits, has evolved into an international theological center, training men and women for leadership in the Roman Catholic Church and the world.
There are more than 200 students enrolled at Weston Jesuit School of
theology. The comprehensive school of theology equips them for service in universities and secondary schools, parishes and dioceses, campus ministries and chaplaincies, and social outreach and service.
Weston Jesuit is one of only seven schools in North America approved by the Vatican to grant the degrees that professors must hold to teach in Catholic
seminaries. Weston confers both civil and ecclesiastical degrees through academic programs that combine the study of a wide variety of theological disciplines. The degrees include a Master of Divinity, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Arts in Spiritual Direction, Master of Theology, Licentiate in Sacred Theology, and Doctor of Sacred Theology.
