Wheeling Jesuit University was founded in 1954 offering more than 30 undergraduate programs and various graduate programs mainly in the liberal arts. Some area of study at WJU include professional education, professional communication and more. Wheeling Jesuit University was founded in partnership between the Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston and the Society of Jesus of the Maryland Province. The University is one of 28 colleges and universities affiliated with the Jesuit Tradition.

Wheeling Jesuit University is situated in Wheeling, a city located along the Ohio River. Students can take advantage of on and off campus activities. In the city of Wheeling, WJU students can enjoy art at the Glass Museum or music at The Capitol Music Hall. On campus students can get involved with the numerous clubs and organizations such as the adventure society, the computer club or the philosophy club. There are also may campus ministry services and places of worship on the 65-acre campus.

The campus includes many state-of-the-art facilities including the Acker Science Center, residence halls and more. The Acker Science Center contains teaching resources, laboratories and more students can take advantage of. The University is also home to The Classroom of the Future which is NASA's premier educational research program.

Not only can WJU students explore culture, science and other interest at the university, but they can choose from a variety of NCAA Division II sports. Wheeling Jesuit University has about 16 men's and women's teams. The award winning teams have receive more than 46 West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles and numerous other awards. Some sports offered include soccer, golf and basketball.
