Wheelock College, founded in 1888, is a private college preparing students for work in
education, social work, child and family studies, and the human services fields with an emphasis on educating them to be advocates for programs, policies and laws that enhance the quality of life for children and families. Wheelock students receive classroom instruction combined with preparation for professional practice through real-world fieldwork, practicum and internship experiences.
There are more than 750 undergraduate and about 290 graduate students enrolled at Wheelock College. Wheelock employs approximately 65 full-time faculty--89 percent that have terminal degrees. The student to faculty ratio is 10 to one. Wheelock offers programs through three schools: the School of
arts and sciences, the School of Education and Child Life, and the School of Social Work. Undergraduate and graduate programs are in Arts and Sciences, Child Life, Child and Family Studies, Education, Juvenile Justice and Youth Advocacy, and Social Work.
